Ohio University officially announced Thursday the schedule for the Spring 2021 commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students.
All ceremonies will be held at Peden Stadium regardless of the weather, according to a university news release. The stadium’s gates will be opened to the public 90 minutes before each ceremony begins.
The first ceremony, which will be held on Friday, April 30 at 9:00 a.m., is for a graduate commencement ceremony, as well as masters and doctoral candidates from all colleges.
Saturday, May 1, at 9:00 a.m., there is a ceremony for undergraduates from the College of Business and the Scripps College of Communication. That same day at 4:00 p.m., there will be a ceremony for undergraduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Patton College of Education and the Russ College of Engineering and Technology.
The last ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 2 at 2:00 p.m. for undergraduate students in the College of Fine Arts, Honors Tutorial College, College of Health Sciences and Professions, the Center for International Studies and University College.
About 3,000 students chose to participate in in-person commencement ceremonies, according to a previous Post report. That is about 60% of OU’s normal in-person student participation.
All students who plan to participate in the ceremonies must wear a regalia, according to the release. Students must order their regalia by April 17 to ensure it will arrive on time for the ceremonies.
An email will be sent to students who RSVP’d for the in-person commencements to instruct them on how to get two mobile tickets that can be used for guests. All seating for the ceremonies is general admission.
OU is also offering a virtual method of the commencement ceremonies for students who would rather participate from the safety and comfort of their personal residences. A link to a livestream of the event will be made available on the days of commencement at OU’s website.
The decision to host graduation ceremonies with a virtual option was originally announced March 3.
