Ohio will play in the Virgin Islands this November.
At first glance, Ohio’s 2015-16 basketball schedule is all about “Dunk City,” the Virgin Islands and The Q.
Ohio Athletics announced the upcoming men’s basketball season Friday afternoon, including the full complete schedule.
Here are five games to make note of:
Florida Gulf Coast vs. Ohio, Nov. 14, 2015 (The Convo)
This is Ohio’s regular season opener. The ‘Cats and Florida Gulf Coast, otherwise known as “Dunk City,” agreed to a home-and-home in 2014 and 2015. The Eagles should be somewhat familiar to fans because of their 2013 Sweet Sixteen appearance. In addition, Ohio lost 79-62 in Fort Myers, Florida, on Nov. 19, 2014.
Ohio vs. Tulsa, Nov. 20, 2015 (U.S. Virgin Islands)
While most students grind through classes in November, coach Saul Phillips will take the basketball program to the 2015 Ezybonds U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Let that one sink in…
Marshall vs. Ohio, Dec. 2, 2015 (The Convo)
The Battle for the Bell returns to the hardwood. Ohio and Marshall renew their rivalry, which was absent in 2014. The Bobcats beat the Thunder Herd 94-57 when they last played on Jan. 5, 2013.
Ohio vs. St. Bonaventure, Dec. 5, 2015 (St. Bonaventure, New York)
The Bonnies are a NCAA Tournament regular, so this is as high profile opponent as the nonconference schedule reveals. The Atlantic 10 program went 18-13 in 2014-15.
Ohio vs. Cleveland State, Dec. 12, 2015 (Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland)
The Bobcats typically play at The Q if they advance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. This season they’re playing their earlier, with a matchup with Cleveland State. The Vikings signed onto a partnership with the NBA arena to get bigger schools, such as Ohio State and Cincinnati, to play there. Sorry, Ohio fans.
