After one of the best stretches of her career, Katie Yun has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. The sophomore shortstop hit .556 on 10 hits. She knocked in nine RBIs and hit six home runs leading the Bobcats to a 4-0 week.
Against Pitt on March 19, she hit half of her home runs and went 4-of-6. Ohio would need every one of those runs as the Bobcats sneaked past the Panthers for an 11-9 victory.
In Ohio’s three-game series against Bowling Green, Yun went 6-of-12 with five RBIs, six runs scored and three home runs leading Ohio (21-10, 3-0 MAC) to a series sweep and an undefeated start to conference play.
Yun credited her big week to just being comfortable at the plate and blocking out any distractions.
“I just kinda go up there and try to hit the ball,” Yun said. “I just go and enjoy it.”
