PoliceBlotter: Windows shatter during the weekend

A window at Brookfield Church was busted overnight this past weekend.

Glass windows paid the price this weekend in Athens, as victims of a rogue pool ball and brick.

Early Monday at 1:57 a.m., according to a report from the Athens Police Department, a witness observed a white man chuck a pool ball through a window of the Brookfield Church, at 5 N. Court St.

The suspect then got into a car located in the city parking garage and ensued north on North College Street — but didn’t get far.

APD officers located and stopped the vehicle while he was still on the road. The witness later identified the suspect before he was placed under arrest.

APD reported another shattered window about a day earlier, when the rear window of a sedan was busted out in a lot behind 45 Morris Ave.

The report shows a man who hosted a party Saturday night on that street and later saw the back window of his blue Chevrolet Cavalier was broken by a thrown brick.

On and near campus, Ohio University Police officers issued eight alcohol-related and six drug-related citations.

On Saturday, a report shows, OUPD officers were called to a fourth floor restroom in Armbruster House due to an “intoxicated female complaint.” Officers found the 18-year-old student laying on her face next to a toilet covered in vomit, according to the report.

She was unable to answer questions or even stay awake. Athens County EMS workers transported her to OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital. She recovered and was then issued a citation for disorderly conduct by intoxication.

But not all OUPD activity dealt with drunken students struggling to stay awake.

Earlier in the week, another report shows, a female student reported she had clothing stolen from the Gamertsfelder Hall laundry area between 4 or 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

She didn’t know whether her clothes were stolen from a washer or dryer, but estimated the value of the clothing at $270.00. The matter is still under investigation.
