The run down on everyone’s favorite things to do during moms weekend.
Moms Weekend was filled with beer, chocolate and fashion shows but most moms agreed making memories with their kids is what they enjoyed the most.
For students such as Amanda Eaton and Nick Eaton, having a mom who’s an alumna can have its perks.
“Of course (I like having my mom here), Amanda said, a graduate student studying education. “I like that she is an (alumna) so she knows the campus already.”
Nick, a freshman studying communication studies, said his favorite part about moms weekend is not having to pay for food.
Despite it not being Jenny Eaton’s first Moms Weekend at OU she said she doesn’t have any wild stories from previous weekends.
“I’m a mom who remains in control,” Jenny said.
The Eaton family walked in the 15th annual Moms Walk for a Cure in the morning on Saturday and ate at Casa Nueva, 6 W. State Street. They planned on shopping, heading to a couple of bars and then attending a house party in the evening.

“The Pub is where I used to like to go … it’s so crowded so (we’ll go) wherever we can get in,” Jenny said.
Jenny, who graduated undergrad in 1986, said she has a lot of fun spending time and sharing her alma mater with her kids.
Tina Brady also visited her daughter, Najah Braswell, a fifth year studying dance, this weekend. She said one event really stood out to her.
“The (Impressions) fashion show was amazing,” Brady said while waiting in line for the photo booth on the second floor of Baker. “I liked it, it was awesome.”
Brady said this is her first time visiting during Moms Weekend.
“I like how you can go to different things and stay and go (as you please.) I like that,” Brady said. “It’s like an open house.”
Braswell said before the day was over she had to get her mom a t-shirt to commemorate her visit.
Alison Thornton, a senior studying global studies and sociology, took her mom to Bagel Street Deli, 27 S. Court Street, for the first time for breakfast.
“(Bagel Street Deli is) breakfast bagel nirvana,” said Barbara Thornton, Alison’s mom.
Besides dining Uptown and the Impressions fashion show, local organizations and campus groups held events during the weekend, one being Chocolate Fest.
Sue Bandy was waiting anxiously with her daughter, Kristen, a sophomore studying health services administration, when the doors to the event opened.
The Chocolate Fest had six vendors showcasing not only chocolate, but also other types items, for people to purchase and sample.
For some the weekend ended too soon.
“I don’t want to go home,” said Barb Jones, whose son Joe is a freshman studying mechanical engineering. “I’ll probably be back next year.”
