With less than three weeks to go until the Mid-American Conference Tournament, Ohio took a massive step securing a first-round bye.
Ohio earned victories on the road against Buffalo and Akron this weekend, both to the tune of 3-1 wins.
After earning the victories, Ohio now holds the third spot in the conference. The third and fourth seed in the conference tournament earned a first-round bye.
Ohio was a two-seed in the MAC Tournament last year.
After losing the first set against Akron on Saturday, Ohio earned three consecutive set wins against the team.
Mallory Salis yet again took control of Ohio’s offense, notching a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. This is her 10th double-double this season and the 20th of her career.
Adding to the offense game were Ali Lake, Katie Nelson and Jaime Kosiorek, who combined for 36 kills and a combined .397 hitting percentage.
Simone Miller, transitioning to middle blocker, hit at a .444 clip.
Next week, the Bobcats return to Athens where they'll celebrate Senior Day and honor Salis and Brooke Coleman. Ohio will face Miami on Friday and Bowling Green on Saturday.
