The Marching 110’s Performance Tour to Japan over the summer was canceled Thursday due to the Centers for Disease Control issuing the country a Level Two warning for coronavirus.
Ohio University temporarily restricted travel to all countries identified as Warning Level 2 and 3 by the CDC, according to an email sent to all Marching 110 members from Kirsten Dabelko, a senior program coordinator for the Office of Global Opportunities, or OGO.
The trip was supposed to take students to Kyoto and Tokyo in May, and performances were supposed to happen in the Tokyo area.
The program was between May 5 until May 15, and there was also a class 110 members had to take during the Spring Semester to enroll in the program, according to the OGO website.
All other travel programs through the university are still on schedule for the summer and fall, except the summer programs going to Italy. All of those programs were canceled Wednesday, according to the Office of Global Opportunities’ website.
Two spring break trips to Italy were also canceled. The university recently brought back students who were already studying in Italy.
