Good Morning,

Are you growing old in Appalachia? No? Will you grow old somewhere, someday?

The answer to the latter question is almost certainly yes (barring the minute possibility that you could become a vampire). Today, an expert on the experience of growing old will be giving a presentation on campus.

Graham D. Rowles, a professor in the Graduate Center for Gerontology at the University of Kentucky, will be on campus today to discuss the experience of growing old in Appalachia.

Rowles’ research “focuses on the lived experience of aging in different contexts,” according to the University of Kentucky’s website.

The program, which will be held in Alden Library room 319 from 3-4 p.m Thursday, will pose the question “How has the situation of older adults and the nature of their lived experience changed over the past 35 years?”

Weather

Sadly, it’ll feel like winter again today. There will be a high of 29 degrees, and it’ll be windy with a chance of morning snow showers. (Courtesy of Scalia Lab)
