The English Language Improvement Program, or ELIP, will be eliminated after the next academic year due to Ohio University’s current budget issues.
The ELIP program aids graduate and undergraduate students by providing academic and global communication assistance to help them become effective communicators, according to the university’s website. It is also linked to the university’s linguistics department.
“A broader reorganization of all international student support services will be undertaken beginning this summer, and services will continue to be provided for current and future international students,” Carly Leatherwood, a university spokesperson, said in an email.
No degree programs will be cut as a result of OU’s recent budget decisions, Leatherwood said.
More information about the university’s budget can be found at its new website.
