Graduate Student Senate's March meeting will be a first for any senate at Ohio University as it will be live streamed.

Unlike Student Senate or Faculty Senate, a large portion of those GSS represents do not live on campus.
“Half of OU’s grad students are online grad students so until now we’ve kind of just been missing half of our constituents being involved our process,” GSS President Carl Edward Smith III said. “This is actually a really big step in that direction and online grad students will be able to chat with us live through the platform for any questions they have.”
John Strohl, Vice President of Communications, has been working with the Office of Information Technology at Ohio University to get this plan in motion, Smith said.
Graduate students watching the live stream can type the questions into a chat box. During the meeting, someone on GSS will be monitoring the chat box and bring any questions to GSS’s attention.
Joe Lalley, senior associate Vice President of Information Technologies and Administrative Services will be giving a presentation on university infrastructure at the GSS meeting.
Also at Monday’s meeting will be two sergeants from the Ohio National Guard presenting.
Three resolutions will be discussed at the meeting: a resolution to support optional graduate student athletic fee, a resolution to support increased graduate student general fee buydown
and a resolution to enforce increased graduate student general fee buydown. History Department Representative, Guy Aldridge is the sponsor on all three resolutions.
The board of elections is now accepting applications through April 3 for candidates for the upcoming GSS elections. After all the applications have been received, candidates can campaign for two weeks. The winners will be announced the evening of April 16.
