SERIES HISTORY
Ohio trails the all-time series against Toledo 45-28. The Bobcats have lost their last two games against the Rockets and are 5-9 since 2010. Toledo has traditionally dominated Ohio with win streaks as long as 14 games in the 1990s.
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR
Ohio: Erica Johnson has been on a tear recently for the Bobcats. She has scored over 20 points in each of the last four games and hasn’t scored fewer than 16 points in all of 2020.
Toledo: Beacham returned to the starting lineup for the Rockets on Saturday and scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The forward is extremely efficient close to the basket, which plays to one of Ohio’s weaknesses in not having a true center. Look for the Rockets to try to work the ball to her often.
WHY THIS GAME MATTERS?
This game is important because Ohio is still looking to separate itself from Ball State and take lone possession of second in the MAC. The Bobcats beat the Cardinals earlier in the season but won’t see them again this season. That means Ohio must keep winning to hold its tiebreaker over the MAC West opponent.
Correction: A previous version of this report incorrectly stated the name of the coach of Toledo’s basketball team. The article has been updated to reflect the most accurate information.
