Ohio University’s 2015 homecoming week will take place Oct. 5 to 10.
The iconic red brick streets of Athens will play an even bigger role in the next Ohio University Homecoming Day parade as students and alumni march down Court Street.
The bricks are part of the theme — “Same Bricks, Different Stories” — for the 2015-16 academic year Homecoming Week, which will take place from Oct. 5 to 10.
“An iconic symbol of Ohio University tradition and charm, the Athens engraved brick is a token of OHIO’s history,” according to an Thursday news release from OU. “No matter your graduation year, all alumni have strolled through college green or stayed out late Uptown, and those bricks have seen it all.”
More than 1,800 individuals responded to a survey to pick this year’s theme, according to the release.
“Same Bricks, Different Stories,” won with more than 30 percent of the vote, Dawn Werry, director of external relations for the Alumni Association, said in the release.
Current students and alumni may submit designs for the 2015 event logo to Werry’s email, werryd@ohio.edu, until March 11.
The person who submits this year’s selected logo will receive an OU-themed gift, valued at $100.
Last year’s theme, “Bobcat Family Reunion,” featured a design of a tree with bobcat paws in place of leaves.
According to a previous Post report, OU’s homecoming typically costs the university about $40,000 per year.
