Former Ohio forward Diego Breckenridge received an invitation to the main camp of the Huntsville Havoc after participating in a showcase camp this past weekend, according to a press release.
Breckenridge, who played for the Bobcats from 2012-16, spent last season as an assistant captain. He had 13 goals and 25 points during 112 career games.
The Havoc, based in Huntsville, Alabama, play in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The team’s coach, Glenn Detulleo, was impressed with what he saw from Breckenridge, who was the only player out of 20 selected for main camp.
Huntsville finished seventh in the league last year, going 26-26-4.
The SPHL is a league spanning 10 states, as far west as Mississippi and as far east as North Carolina. The league began in fall 2004.
“Over the weekend, his work ethic, compete level and tenacity really stood out,” Detulleo said in a team release. “He earned himself a chance to compete for an opening night roster spot next month.”
Huntsville opens its regular season Oct. 21 against the Peoria Rivermen.
