Nelsonville Music Festival announces its first round of artists to play the 2015 festival.
Merle Haggard, St. Vincent and Trampled by Turtles were announced Friday to take the 2015 Nelsonville Music Festival Stage.
It’s the eleventh year for the local music event, which is organized by Stuart’s Opera House. Last year’s event featured artists including The Avett Brothers, Dinosaur Jr., Shovels & Rope, The Head and the Heart, Jason Isbell and Kurt Vile & The Violators. More than 50 artists played across the course of the week.
Each year, organizers try to hit a variety of genres, and this year’s lineup is no different. Haggard is a country music icon, St. Vincent gives a unique trippy spin to rock music and Trampled by Turtles specializes in contemplative indie folk.
Among other acts announced are Hurray for the Riff Raff, Moon Hooch and My Bubba.
The event will take place from May 28 to 31. Weekend passes are currently on sale for $110. More acts will be announced as the festival gets closer and prices will increase.
