Wrestling: What to know for Edinboro

After competing in the Mid Major National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Ohio (4-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) will host Edinboro (7-2, 1-1 MAC) Sunday in a dual.

The Bobcats have just made a long journey home from Iowa, whereas the Fighting Scots just came off a mighty victory against Clarion University, winning 26-12. Ohio and Edinboro have performed extremely well both team-wise and individually, with wrestlers who wear either green and white or red and white singlets being threats on the mat.

For Ohio, some of its top performers so far this season have been redshirt freshman Jeremy Olszko, redshirt Junior Garrett Thompson and redshirt senior Jordan Greer. For Edinboro, a couple of their best wrestlers this season have been junior Max Kirby and graduate student Colton Camancho.

Ohio and Edinboro enter pretty evenly matched, with each seeing some early success in MAC play. Here is everything you need to know before the dual.

Match Information:

Time: Jan. 19 at 1 p.m.

Location: The Convo (Athens, Ohio)

Where to Watch: ESPN+

Wrestler to Watch: Garrett Thompson

Garrett Thompson has been cooking up a storm for the Ohio Bobcats lately. In the recent Mid Major National Duals, he performed extremely well for his team after going 3-2 in the five matchups he had against other wrestlers in the 2-day tournament. Before the season began, it looked like the spotlight would be on another redshirt junior: Peyten Kellar. However, Thompson has proven nothing but sheer excellence for the Bobcats. Whoever faces him will be pushed to the limit.
