The former Ohio University student who was reported missing by a friend — and was believed by authorities to have been in hiding — was found and arrested in Georgia earlier this month, The Post has learned.
Patience Sharrer-Durant, a Zanesville native and former OU student in Athens, was detained and booked April 2 by the Sandy Springs Police in Fulton County, Ga. She is currently in the custody of the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office, county officials said.
Sharrer-Durant had a warrant out for her arrest in Guernsey County after she failed to appear in court as a witness during a murder trial, according to a previous Post article.
Police reports obtained by The Post show that Sgt. Andrew Spears of the Sandy Springs PD had called Zanesville PD and asked for the missing person’s report to be cleared, and informed the department that Sharrer-Durant, 21, would be extradited back to Ohio because of the arrest warrant.
“She is in custody and in good health,” said Capt. Doug Merry of the Zanesville Police Department, which got a missing persons report from a friend of Sharrer-Durant’s on Jan. 5.
Representatives for the Sandy Springs Police Department could not be reached for comment by press time.
