After falling to Bowling Green on Friday, Ohio gets back on track with a 4-1 victory back in Athens, putting its record at 3-1 on the season.
The Bobcats were aided in the scoring department by the usual suspects, with Nick Coward, Ryley Scanlon, Nik Jozefiak and Ethan Tamborski each putting one in the net en route to a steady and well-played victory.
The Bobcats won this game on the defensive end of the power play. Despite conceding two penalties early, they ended them with 2 penalty kills. Ohio made it a point to take great care of the puck and possession overall.
The penalties built up throughout the game, but they helped to set a physical tone that has been the throughline for the entire season thus far. One thing is for certain in this early season: the Bobcats want to play fast and they want to hit hard.
Friday marked yet another great performance by Bobcats goalie Matthew Zazon, who nearly pitched his first shutout of the season. With the player advantage the Falcons had early in the game due to penalties, Zazon experienced more pressure than he received in either game against Cincinnati and held up like a brick wall in front of the goal.
Moving on to next week’s series, Ohio will take on 4-3 Penn State, looking to push its win percentage below 50% in the upcoming two games. The games will be played away at 3:00 p.m. EST on Friday and Saturday.
