Wrestling: Ohio will host its first dual meet against Campbell on Sunday

Ohio has its first dual meet of the season on Sunday when it hosts No. 23 Campbell. The meet will be the only home appearance for the Bobcats in all of November.

Here is the information for Sunday:

Opponent: Campbell

Meet Location: The Convo

Meet Date: Nov. 10 at 4 p.m.

How to Watch: ESPN+

What’s Happened so far:

Ohio performed well at the Michigan State Open. Six Bobcats finished in the top-5 of their weight class, including freshman Carson Brewer, who was the champion of the 184-pound freshman/sophomore division in his Ohio debut.

Zac Carson, Mario Guillen and Alec Hagan are big names returning for Ohio this season. Carson and Guillen were both national qualifiers last year. Hagan – who finished fourth in last year’s MAC Tournament – is looking for his first national qualification.

Coach Joel Greenlee is expecting even more out them from last year.

“I think all three of those guys are better than they were last year,” Greenlee said. “I think they spent a lot of time over the summer working on getting better.”

Match Information:

Campbell will be a challenging matchup for Ohio. The Camels had four champions at the Southeast Open and two champions in the freshman/sophomore division. Campbell also has six national qualifiers returning for this season.

Greenlee doesn’t feel threatened by those numbers.

“It doesn’t mean they’re better than us,” Greenlee said. “What it means is that we have an opportunity to beat a qualifier from last year.”

The season has just begun, but any Bobcat that defeats a previous national qualifier will already be a step ahead in qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in March.
