F--kRapeCulture vehemently opposes any rape apologist, and KC Johnson is no exception. Johnson's claim that colleges and universities in the United States have abandoned due process and that survivors of sexual assault hold a privileged status has no basis in the lived reality of the hundreds of thousands of students raped or sexually assaulted each year.
F--kRapeCulture reminds the students, staff and faculty of Ohio University that more people falsely report themselves dead each year than falsely report rapes. Rape is real, and we as a university community must support our survivors. Indeed, we must support them all the more because of how much bias is built in against them in the University and legal setting. From victim blaming in the words of their peers and that of the media, to the common refusal of universities and prosecutors to pursue action against rapists.
Johnson has built his entire case on the exception that proves the rule, however the Ohio University community will not be fooled into abandoning the most vulnerable among us. We completely reject Johnson's claims.
