One Ohio University professor will move up from overseeing a university department to an entire campus.
The Office of the Provost appointed Nicole Pennington as dean of OU’s Southern campus.
Pennington has eight years of experience working for Southern campus, serving as a professor and associate director of the campus’ nursing department since 2006.
Pennington signed a five-year contract with a salary of $134,000 per year, said Katie Quaranta, an OU spokeswoman. In her previous job, she made $65,204, according to 2013-14 OU faculty salaries.
Prior to coming to OU, Pennington received a doctorate from Chatham University in Pittsburgh and published articles in children’s health and nursing education.
The Southern campus’ undergraduate fall enrollment for the 2013-14 academic year was slightly more than 2,000, according to the Office of Institutional Research.
The position was made vacant by former dean Bill Willan when he was promoted to executive dean for Regional Campuses.
The position has been filled since July 1 by Dan Evans, who has worked for OU Southern campus for 13 years.
