City Council: Council members to discuss farmers market and grant for Athens Fire Headquarters

Athens City Council will meet to discuss a grant for Athens Fire Headquarters, a revocable license request and the Farmers Market at Monday night’s meeting.

Members will discuss a grant to replace the exhaust and ventilation system for the Athens Fire Headquarters, located on 61 Columbus Road. The fire station is more than 30 years old. This was proposed by the city and safety committee.

Devil’s Kettle Brewing, the second-oldest brewery in Athens, has requested a revocable license that the City of Athens can revoke at any time. The purpose of the license will be discussed at Monday’s meeting.

The council will discuss parameters regarding the farmers market also at Monday’s meeting. The farmers market takes place Saturdays at 9 a.m in the parking lot at 1000 E. State St. Local farmers, bakers, orchardists and other food-based vendors have the opportunity to share their fresh food and local products to the community.
