Baseball: What to know about Central Michigan

Ohio found some much-needed footing during last weekend’s fixtures against Bowling Green, sweeping the Saturday doubleheader to take the series 2-1.

The Bobcats (4-10, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) broke a five-game skid against the Falcons. They’re looking to turn their season around just as conference play heats up and just as the season turns to spring. 

This weekend the Chippewas begin both their MAC campaign and their tournament title defense after a nonconference schedule that put them on the road for 15 of their 16 games.

Series History

Ohio dropped all four games up in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, last season by a combined score of 30-12. The last time Ohio won the season series against Central Michigan was back in March 2009, thanks to the eight runs it scored over three games. Ohio split the series with Central Michigan in 2021.

Player to Watch

Billy Adams — The freshman second baseman went 6-for-8 in Ohio’s two wins against Bowling Green, including a 4-for-4 outing highlighted by four RBIs and a double. He’s 9-for-17 in his last five games.
