A look at the weekend:
A system that has the potential to dump heavy rain and bring gusty winds will pass through Athens on Thursday and the town will see temperatures plummet to near freezing. High pressure will build following that system, allowing for a warm-up throughout the weekend. Highs on Friday and Saturday will be near 40 degrees, but a stark warm-up should come on Sunday with a high around 55 degrees. Lows will be in the 20s to near freezing.
Coming up next week:
Several weak systems will pass throughout most of next week in waves, bringing chances for rain. However, snow isn’t out of the picture by the end of the week. Temperatures will remain comfortable for most of the week, not shifting much from the 40 degree to 50 degree range. A wave of arctic air will take over by the end of the week, sending temperatures to near or below freezing.
