‘Tis the season for giving. And for one Court Street business, that meant donating 970 pounds of food to help feed the hungry.
As a part of The Athena Cinema’s third-annual Holiday Film Series, customers were charged a can of non-perishable food instead of admission to see several holiday classics.
Movies shown at the event included Elf, The Muppet Christmas and Arthur Christmas. They were shown as matinees during Saturdays between and Nov. 29 and Dec. 20
This year, the Athens County Food Pantry has received a total of 970 pounds of food from the Holiday Film Series, Jill Doose, the board chair for the food pantry. said. She said they’ve been receiving donations of a similar size for the past three years.
