Coach Joe Carbone has not been happy about the constant deluge of rain in Athens during the past month. Standing in the dugout during Monday’s practice, Carbone looked frustrated over what he said was the rainiest Spring Quarter the Bobcats have dealt with in years.
“This is a joke,” Carbone said, straight-faced. “This season’s been a joke.”
And that was before yet another of Ohio’s mid-week games was canceled.
The Bobcats’ 6 p.m. contest with Wright State last night was canceled and will not be made up. That makes five games in the past two weeks — and the sixth of the season — that have been postponed or canceled due to rain.
As of early yesterday afternoon, Ohio is still set to host Youngstown State at 6 p.m. tonight, a make-up game from last Tuesday. But the forecast calls for scattered showers.
Last week, both of the Bobcats’ midweek games against the Penguins and Ohio State were not played. Before that, an April 22 game at Bowling Green was postponed, and an April 19 game with Cincinnati at Bob Wren Stadium was canceled.
