Athena Cinema announced Wednesday visitors will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in order to enter the theater, effective Oct. 1.
Full vaccination status is required upon entry, according to a tweet from the Athena Cinema. Those who are not fully vaccinated must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of entry.
The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Athens County. According to a previous Post report, the county surpassed 1,000 cases Sept. 13.
The Union Bar also requires patrons to provide physical or photo proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of entry, according to a previous Post report. The Union adopted its COVID-19 vaccination and test requirements in August.
The Cinema did not stipulate whether physical or photo proof of vaccination is required in its tweet.
