Softball: Ohio Sweeps the MAC East weekly awards

Ohio swept the Mid-American Conference East weekly awards.

For the fourth time in five weeks, Ohio pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey was named the Mid-American Conference East Pitcher of the Week.

While Dorsey won MAC East Pitcher of the Week award again, one of her teammates won for the first time this season. Designated hitter Morgan Geno became the first Bobcat to win Player of the Week this year, making Ohio the third team in the MAC East to sweep the weekly awards this season.

Miami and Kent State also swept the weekly awards earlier this season.

En route to becoming the third freshman to win the award this year, Geno hit .583 with one home run and four RBI's in four games last week. Three RBI's came against Kent State and one against Toledo. Ohio won all four games.

Dorsey was the winning pitcher in three of those four games, racking up 30 strikeouts and posting a 1.67 ERA. Opponents hit just .129 against Dorsey in her three starts last week.

Ohio sits tied for second in the MAC East (24-13, 6-4 MAC) with Kent State (23-13, 6-4 MAC) and is one game in the win column behind leader Miami (22-14, 7-2 MAC).
