Field Hockey: Ohio prepares for final road trip of the regular season

Ohio is back on the road this week for a weekend of matchups against Bellarmine and Indiana. Ohio currently stands at a 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the Mid-American Conference, thanks to its two-match win streak and recent 2-0 win at home against Saint Francis.

As the Bobcats complete their final road trips of the regular season, they’ll start in Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the No. 71 Knights in a conference contest. Bellarmine is 4-11 overall and on a two-match losing streak after it was defeated 3-1 by Duke Sunday.

Bellarmine coach Devanny Boisvert is in her fourth season as the head coach since earning the position in 2019. In 2021, Boisvert was named MAC Coach of the Year after making big advances in the program’s second Division I season.

Players to watch against Bellarmine match include Ohio freshman Sasha Dikotla, who just added goal number three to her resume against Saint Francis Sunday. Dikotla also put up four total shots in that match, two of which were on goal. Senior Amber Hofenk Jerembo is Bellarmine’s leader in goals this season with 11, and took four shots, two on goal, in its recent loss to Duke.

Ohio will complete its weekend with a match against No. 29 Indiana, who are 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten. Last week, Indiana lost to Michigan State on the road, marking a tough four-match losing streak. Indiana is also fighting to earn qualification for the Big Ten Tournament, as it currently stands at No. 9 in the conference.

Indiana goalkeeper Arabella Loveridge has navigated the defense with 74 saves this season, earning five against Michigan State Sunday. Junior forward Meghan Dillon is also a player to watch. She had a team-high three shots on goal at Michigan State.

The Bobcats look to continue their win streak and move up the MAC. They currently stand at No. 5 nearing the MAC Championship.
