Athens County is currently under a level one snow emergency, according to an alert sent out early Tuesday afternoon from Alert Athens County.
The roadways are icy and hazardous, according to the email, with snow that could be drifting. Drivers are asked to use caution.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Athens until Jan. 13 at 4 a.m.
