The nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards have been announced, and this year’s nominations reflect how interesting 2019 was for film.
Coming in hot, Todd Phillips’ Joker leads with 11 nominations, including Best Picture, Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Phillips for Best Director.
Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite earned six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best International Feature. The film makes history as the first South Korean film to garner both a Best Picture nomination and a Best International Feature nomination.
Scarlett Johansson also finds herself nominated for two acting awards this year, as Best Actress in a Leading Role for Netflix’s Marriage Story and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Jojo Rabbit. The nominations mark her first and second Oscar nominations.
