The Athens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal stabbing in New Marshfield — and the victim was a person of interest in the 2003 murder of an Ohio University student.
James Braden McLain, 43, was found dead in his home on Gun Club Road at about 4:30 p.m. Monday after receiving multiple stab wounds. Sheriff Pat Kelly said he suspects it might have been the result of a robbery, according to a news release.
McLain’s family found him dead in his living room, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office is conducting interviews and awaiting a search warrant on the residence, according to the release.
McLain was a person of interest in the 2003 murder of OU student Terris Ross, but Kelly said there was no connection between the two cases.
