Fashion icon and R&B sensation Rihanna and her rap artist boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, announced that they will be expecting their first child together. This past weekend, the lovely couple appeared strolling through the snowy streets of Harlem to debut the news.
Rihanna showed off her baby bump in a bright-pink vintage Chanel coat matched with a glitzy custom body chain and ripped jeans. In the series of photos, A$AP Rocky is pictured kissing Rihanna on the forehead -- making this announcement iconic on every level. The duo definitely “shined bright like a diamond” while walking down the streets of New York.
From friends to lovers, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have a long history together over the last decade. The two first appeared together at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, performing the remix to Rihanna’s song ”Cockiness (Love It)” from her 2011 album Talk That Talk.
A year later, A$AP Rocky was hired as an opener for Rihanna’s Diamond World Tour. After years of platonic friendship, the couple was first romantically linked during the 2019 British Fashion Awards, where A$AP Rocky was present in support of Rihanna's achievements with her Fenty brand.
In 2020, Rihanna split from billionaire businessman Hassan Jameel after their three year relationship. From there, speculation and rumors around Rihanna and A$AP’s relationship sky-rocketed after the breakup with Jameel.
In December 2020, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were reported “inseparable” by an insider with People since the confirmation of their relationship the past November. Since then, the couple has remained private but allegedly have been infatuated with each other.
A$AP Rocky was interviewed for a cover story with GQ magazine in May 2021, and confirmed that Rihanna was his soulmate with references to her as “the love of his life” and “the one.” The rapper also made some foreshadowing comments about fatherhood stating, “I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.” Rihanna fans can agree with A$AP Rocky that the two will have the “flyest” child of all time.
