Today is Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018. Here’s what you need to know:
Good morning,
Midterm elections are not always as exciting as presidential elections, but that didn’t stop Athens County voters from showing up at the polls.
This year, the voter turnout increased by more than 13 percent than the last midterm election, with 47.83 percent of registered voters casting their votes. In the 2014 midterm elections, 33.98 percent of registered voters in the county went to the polls, according to the Athens County Board of Elections.
That percentage of voters almost doubled two years later when 66.15 percent of registered individuals voted during the 2016 presidential election.
