Anti-Trump protests break out nationwide, in Athens

All across America, protests broke out April 5 to speak out against the current political administration. Athens participated in these protests and had former educators and guest speakers who spoke against the dismantling of the Department of Education, as well as Elon Musk’s involvement in the government. Athens residents and students say they will continue to have their voices heard amidst the current political climate. Passion Works expands to reach larger community, more resources

Passion Works Studio is in the process of expanding to another building in order to reach more people and provide a safe space for students to create. The new studio will provide space for ceramics, jewelry making and many more art mediums to bring the community together. Athens community comes together in support of Take Back the Night

Take Back the Night is an annual event at OU to raise awareness for sexual and domestic violence, and it's a way to uplift survivors. The night was filled with speeches, artistic performances and it was capped off by a march up Court Street. Survivor advocates say Take Back the Night is so important in order to be there for survivors, as well as educating the public.
