Trump administration reverses visa cancellations policy

The federal government officially reversed the Trump administration's decision regarding the termination of student visas Friday, according to The Associated Press. The decision follows dozens of lawsuits filed by international students against the White House.

The policy triggered widespread panic among international students all across the country.

Since late March, at least 1,220 students from 187 colleges and universities across the nation have either had their visa revoked or their legal status discontinued, according to the AP.

Such motions forced international students to stop attending classes or go into hiding.

According to a poll by the AP, 47% of U.S. adults strongly or somewhat oppose revoking foreign students' visas over their participation in pro-Palestinian activism.

Status for international students will be reactivated for those whose visas were removed, and their status will remain active until the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement develops a new blueprint for Student and Exchange Visitor Program record terminations.

The Ohio University International Student Union declined to comment on the decision at this time.
