Earning three out of four trophies at the major award ceremonies in Hollywood is not a bad accomplishment. But to earn the highest accomplishment in Hollywood, the one missing trophy can mean everything to these celebrities.
In Hollywood, one of the highest elite clubs to be a part of is EGOT, where one has earned at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. Some of the legendary artists who have achieved this status include Whoopi Goldberg, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Viola Davis, Elton John and James Earl Jones.
There are dozens of celebrities close to reaching EGOT status, including a few who have a shot with major projects coming up in the next couple of years.
Here is a list of living stars who are just one award away from achieving the EGOT.
Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet is one of the most distinguished actors of her generation. Winslet starred in major projects such as “Titanic,” “Avatar: The Way of the Water,” “Divergent” series and “The Reader.”
She has won an Emmy, a Grammy and an Oscar, but Winslet has never been nominated for a Tony. She will achieve EGOT status if she ever gets the chance to take home a Tony.
Lin-Manuel Miranda
As a major name in the current generation, it is shocking to see that Lin-Manuel Miranda has not yet accomplished EGOT status. He has received a Pulitzer but is one award away from achieving an EGOT.
Miranda has given so much to the industry, he is just short of an Oscar. He has been nominated at the Oscars in the Best Original Song category: once in 2016 for "How Far I'll Go" from “Moana” and in 2021 for "Dos Oruguitas" from “Encanto.”
Julie Andrews
It almost seems impossible Julie Andrews has not reached EGOT status. She has won an Oscar, two Emmys and three Grammys. She has been nominated for a Tony three times but has never received one. Andrews needs to make another memorable appearance on stage to achieve the last honorary trophy and join the EGOT club in Hollywood.
Cher
Cher is another artist who has shockingly never reached the elite club. Cher has won an Emmy, a Grammy and an Oscar for Best Actress in 1988 for “Moonstruck.” Cher has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and even earned a Razzie nomination.
If Cher ever decides to join Broadway, she may have a shot to earn a Tony to complete her EGOT status.
John Williams
The legendary composer John Williams has the most Academy Award nominations of any living person and the second-most of all time, after Walt Disney. Williams has a striking 54 Oscar nominations, but he has only won five of them.
Williams also has three Emmys and a whopping 76 Grammy nominations. For his Grammy slot, Williams has won 25 out of the 76 he was nominated for. The only award he is missing is a Tony. If the right person gives him a Broadway show to compose, he will be among those in the EGOT status.
Cynthia Erivo
It is shocking to see the multitalented phenomenon Cynthia Eriva is still on this list after the 2025 awards season. Erivo is well on her way to earning an EGOT and is only missing the Oscar win.
Ervio has won one Emmy, one Grammy and one Tony, but she has only been nominated for two Oscars. With the release of “Wicked: For Good” later this year, it will hopefully give her another chance to win an Oscar at next year’s ceremony.
Eminem
An unexpected celebrity on this list is Eminem. He is one award short of winning an EGOT, only missing is a Tony. He has one Emmy, 15 Grammys and one Oscar. Once he scores a Tony award, he will be reach EGOT status in Hollywood.
Adele
Adele is another artist shocking to see on the list of stars close to the EGOT status. Adele is a highly decorated artist in the industry and is only missing one Tony award to earn the status. She has won 16 Grammys, one Oscar and one Emmy. Once Adele takes the stage, she will be in the running to join the other EGOT winners in Hollywood.
