Kickin’ with Kyra: Taylor Swift’s hate is unnecessary

Taylor Swift was booed at the Super Bowl, and even if this was because of the team she was cheering for, the woman gets so much hate. She is booed no matter what she does. After completing her Eras Tour and skyrocketing to being one of the most successful women ever, many don’t like her. Trying to figure out why is difficult because many say it is because of her fans or because her music isn't good. Regardless of whatever excuse someone wants to search for, the hate Swift gets is unnecessary and a symbol of the misogyny that lurks through the media.

I wouldn’t call myself a huge Swift fan, but I know when to see that hate is undeserved. Swift truly is none other than a woman pursuing the goals she set as a girl. In doing this, she helps other young girls believe in themselves. Watch clips of young children at her concerts and see the woman people get annoyed with by simply making others smile. Watching her when she was just a young girl herself, first starting her career to put into perspective that she is just another person.

Swift has long been famous. In recent years, though, she has gained more fame than many could even imagine. One reason she launched higher into fame was that she broke off from Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records and re-recorded and re-released the albums Braun gained ownership of after she left in 2018. This way, she was able to own her art and get the real credit she deserved by allowing fans to relive the songs they loved as kids or young adults. This also allowed her to rebrand through an image of independence and people either love or hate when a woman is independent.

On her Eras tour, Swift sang songs from not just one album but all the albums from different chapters of her career. This idea brought her directly into the spotlight and was a genius idea. It is now the highest-grossing tour of all time, and people are mad it went so well.

Swift knows what fans want, and she knows how to keep people hooked. Let’s say someone hates Swift. That’s OK, but think about some aspects of her career first. She writes her music, which, regardless of whether someone likes it or not, shows real talent and not just luck. She makes people genuinely happy. Lastly, she is simply successful. People have their music preferences, but the dislike for Swift is deep-rooted for no real reason.

Swift did go through controversy regarding her air transportation use, and this is a problem. Pollution is a valid reason to look down on someone. However, many other celebrities fly private and receive less criticism for it. Another flaw of Swift is her slight neglect of certain political issues. She isn’t one to voice activism enough and doesn’t use her power to its full potential. However, she did endorse Kamala Harris, and holding a celebrity accountable doesn’t mean simply disliking everything about them.

Overall, Swift is a successful woman, and even if it is realized or not, that bothers people. She is a woman who enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, writing songs and making fans extremely happy. It is a mystery why the world hates a woman who brings people, especially young girls, so much joy.
