Ohio (7-3, 5-1 Mid-American Conference) recently completed a victory against rival Kent State last Friday in the annual Grudge Match. It also happened to be Senior Day, and the seniors who performed did not leave Bobcat fans disappointed.
Redshirt senior Jordan Greer, one of Ohio’s most clutch wrestlers, pinned Brentan Simmerman within two minutes and 48 seconds. TJ England got his fair share with a close 4-2 decision over Adan Benavidez. The other stellar performances were from redshirt sophomores Malachi O’Leary, Derek Raike and Logan Cravatas, and redshirt junior Garrett Thompson.
O’Leary completely outplayed Nico Calello and won by decision 11-5. Raike showed no mercy to Cael Andrews in the 149-pound division, winning 20-3 by technical fall. Cravatas echoed his teammate Raike and won in a 15-7 major decision against Keegan Knapp. Finally, Thompson was an absolute machine versus Hunter Andel and won 16-0 by technical fall.
The match was also Ohio’s final home match of the season. This Friday, the Bobcats will be in Edwardsville, Illinois, to take on the Cougars (6-6, 3-1 MAC) of SIUE. The Cougars are just coming off a 16-26 loss to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), so they are hungry for a win, especially at home.

Wrestler to watch (Ohio): Jeremy Olszko
An emerging young star is in the works for the Bobcats, and his name is Jeremy Olszko. Jeremy is only a freshman, yet he has proven to be one of Ohio’s deadliest weapons. He recorded a 3-0 decision victory over Kent State’s Kyle Snyder, and before this match, he had provided nothing but sheer excellence for the Bobcats. It will be interesting to see where Olszko will be in the next couple of years, but right now, he’s taking it duel by duel and wrestling well enough for his team to succeed.
