Ohio University's Jordan Greer wrestling against Central Michigan, Feb. 2, 2025 at the Convocation Center in Athens Ohio.

Wrestling: What to know for Kent State

Ohio (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) will perform in its final home duel of the season against Kent State (1-12, 0-5 MAC) Friday in a battle for the annual Grudge Match. Last season, the Bobcats managed to win big against the Golden Flashes, 34-15. Not since the 2020-21 season has Kent State beaten Ohio.

Before the start of the match, Ohio will honor its seniors in a pre-match ceremony. Those include Jordan Greer, TJ Englund and Aiden Waszak. The Bobcats’ previous duel was a gutsy 18-16 victory against Central Michigan in Athens this past Sunday afternoon. As for Kent State, it is coming off a 23-12 loss to Clarion University Jan. 26.

The standout performances were from the likes of redshirt sophomore Jack Lledo, redshirt freshman Jeremy Olszko and redshirt junior Garrett Thompson. Lledo prevailed over redshirt junior Chandler Amaker in a close 4-2 decision, Olszko defeated redshirt junior Adrien Cramer in a 5-1 decision and Thompson took total control of his duel with Alex Cramer winning in a 13-1 major decision.

Match information

Opponent: Kent State

Time: Friday at 7 p.m.

Location: The Convocation Center at Ohio University

Where to Watch: ESPN+

Wrestler to watch (Ohio): Jordan Greer

Since the duel is dedicated to honoring Ohio’s seniors, it’s only right to highlight Jordan Greer. Greer has been the most consistent senior all season long and has been one of the Bobcats’ closer in many situations that otherwise would have been a win for the opposing team. Ohio fans won’t expect anything less from Greer, especially on senior day.
