The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday afternoon via X that Ohio was picked to finish first in the MAC preseason poll, as voted on by the MAC’s 11 head coaches.
The Bobcats were also picked to win the MAC tournament, receiving nine total votes from coaches to win the postseason tournament.
The preseason ranking of No. 1 in the MAC comes a season after Ohio had a great year, finishing second in the MAC behind eventual MAC champion Miami (OH) with an overall record of 31-24 and an in-conference record of 18-8.
Returning for Ohio this season are key players such as Skipp Miller, Mikie Lieving, Shelby Westler and Izzie Wilson.
Ohio will open its season on the road Thursday in the Elon Softball Classic.
