Ohio (1-5) hasn’t had a great season through its first two weekends. Coach Craig Moore’s intentionally scheduled “easier” nonconference bouts have resulted in just one win, with two sides of the ball that have been inconsistent at best to start.
Now, Ohio will face its best opponent yet, in a one-off mid-week matchup against West Virginia (7-0). In last year’s NCAA Tournament, West Virginia made it to the Super Regionals before falling to North Carolina in its best-of-three series.
Here is everything to know ahead of the matchup:

King has been simply dominant for the Mountaineers. The junior outfielder has racked up nine hits, with remarkable splits on the season, batting .600, with a .933 on-base percentage and a .714 slugging. Ohio’s starting pitchers have gotten off to great starts in many games, but the entire bullpen will need to put forth consistent output against King and West Virginia’s entire batting rotation.
