Bruno Mars’ recent collaborations leave fans speculating

Bruno Mars’ unexpected resurgence to music in 2024 has led to a series of new successes in his career. Collaborations with artists such as Lady Gaga, Rosé and Sexyy Red have contributed to his recent rise in popularity. His unpredictability has fans waiting for him to announce a larger project.

It is no secret Mars loves the spotlight. He is an experienced performer who has showcased his talent in the past with several Grammy-winning albums and an ongoing residency in Las Vegas.

In October 2010, Mars released his most famous album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” which has over 9.5 billion streams. It contains hits such as “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade.”

Additionally, in December 2012, Mars released his second studio album, “Unorthodox Jukebox.” Though not his most popular album, songs such as “When I Was Your Man” and “Locked out of Heaven” became instant classics. The album took home the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2014.

Although his debut album was a smash, his third studio album, “24k Magic,” was just as spectacular and even won the award for Album of The Year at the 2017 Grammys. His song “That’s What I Like” was the most successful track off the album with over 2.48 billion streams on Spotify.

With his recent collaborations, Mars continues to captivate audiences. His songs “Die With a Smile” with Lady Gaga and “APT.” with Rosé have led to the majority of his success this past year.

Released in August 2024, “Die With a Smile” instantly became an audience favorite. It held the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 for eight weeks in 2024. Since then, the ballad has continued to attract listeners considering it was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks at the start of 2025.

Aside from topping the charts, Mars and Gaga were just awarded a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The pair only had kind words to share about working with each other.

In an interview with Page Six, Mars acknowledged Gaga’s talent.

“She’s an icon, and she makes this song magical,” Mars said.

Both artists have immense respect for each other which contributes to their success.

Shortly after collaborating with Gaga, Mars was featured on another collaborative song, “APT.” with Rosé. The song soon became a hit because of its lively beat and catchy lyrics.

Fans were raving over how fun and quirky the song was. Fans started a dance trend on TikTok to add to its playful vibe.

Fans have led to “APT.” holding the number one spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the past 12 weeks. Additionally, the music video of the song just recently became part of YouTube’s 1 billion views club.

The success of the upbeat tune exposed new audiences to Mars’ talent, boosting his career this past year. His hard work has earned him recognition within the music industry. Aside from his recent Grammy win, Mars also just became the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Continuing into 2025, Mars released another collaborative song. “Fat Juicy & Wet,” with Sexxy Red, was released Jan. 24.

After celebrating the success of “Die With a Smile” on his Instagram, Mars wrote, “I’m headed to the studio right now to make a strip club anthem so I can celebrate and properly act up this weekend.”

All three collaborative songs have a unique sound showcasing Mars’ versatility in music. His recent activity within the music industry has caused many to question what he plans on doing next with his career.

With all of the recent collaborations he has participated in, it could be possible he is alluding to a collaborative album in the future. His latest album, “An Evening with Silk Sonic,” was a collaboration with Anderson Paak and released in November 2021.

The varying genres of music he has recently released create speculation as to what a new album from Mars would sound like. In the past, Mars has been known to release pop, R&B and some soul music; however, he could try to experiment with alternative sounds.

Mars’ comeback to music has left fans to wonder what he will produce next.
