Internet power couple Zendaya and Tom Holland sparked engagement rumors Jan. 5 when Zendaya appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet with a ring. Since attending, reports have confirmed the two are engaged.
The duo’s on-screen romance as Peter Parker and MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man films has now blossomed into one of the most beloved relationships.
The couple first began sparking dating rumors in late 2016. Zendaya and Tom Holland starred alongside each other in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” While attending award ceremonies and promotional tours, the two were cozying up, posting each other on social media and bragging about each other to the press: a recipe to circulate dating rumors.
One of the most notable appearances of the rumored couple was their 2017 lip sync battle. Since the Golden Globes carpet, Zendaya attended a screening of her movie “Challengers” and rocked her engagement ring. People reports the ring is a 5.02-carat Jessica McCormack ring.
While the couple has not confirmed anything themselves, Tom Holland’s father has shared news about the proposal on his Patreon. He shared a blog post to his account stating how prepared Holland was to propose. His father also shared that Holland asked Zendaya’s father for permission before proposing. Holland’s father ended his post by writing, “I am completely confident they will make a successful union.”
The engagement is exciting news for fans of the couple, but it is doubtful the two will share much on social media due to the privacy they have tried to keep about their relationship.
