Take me to your leader
At the intersection of state Route 50 and Potter Road in Guysville, deputies arrived to assist state highway patrol with a large number of cattle. The cattle were about to enter onto the highway.
While on scene, deputies spoke with the highway patrol which said the cattle were back on the field. No further action was required, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
Bike theft
A bike was reported stolen at James Hall around noon. Ohio University Police Department responded.
The theft was recorded as a “theft without consent.”
Saturday, December 14
Anyone going to claim it?
An abandoned vehicle was reported at Mill School Road. Athens County Sheriff’s deputies responded and determined the vehicle was broken down, according to a note left at the vehicle by the owner.
An attempt was made to contact the vehicle's owner and the landowner where it was abandoned; however, neither owner responded.
The vehicle was tagged for if the landowner wanted to tow the vehicle in the future. The vehicle was left because it did not block the property entrance or the road.
Turn it down
Deputies from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint for loud music being played from a car at Republic Avenue in Glouster. Once they arrived, it was discovered the music had already been turned down.
No further action was recorded.
Sunday, December 15
Arguments
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispute on Five Points Road in New Marshfield. Deputies spoke to all of the individuals involved and determined the dispute was civil.
The complainants were encouraged to contact the courthouse. No further action was required.
Double whammy
Athens County Sheriff's deputies noticed a truck being driven without a license plate, causing them to initiate a traffic stop at state Route 13 in Trimble.
Several individuals were identified in the vehicle, and one had an active warrant out of the Athens Municipal Court.
The person was then arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. All of the other occupants and drivers were released from the scene.
Monday, December 16
Break down
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a property on Lemaster Road in Athens due to someone destroying another’s property inside the complainant’s home.
Deputies took a report. At the time the Athens County Sheriff’s Office released its Dec.16 media report, an investigation was pending.
Knock, knock
Deputies received a report of a man knocking on the complainant’s door on North Plains Road in The Plains.
The man who was knocking was located and told to not come back to the complainant’s door.
Tuesday, December 17
Waiting on a friend
A suspicious vehicle was reported parked at the Albany Arms Apartments located on Meadowbrook Road in Albany. The deputies located the vehicle, and the occupants were found inside.
The occupants said they were waiting for a friend to return.
Team up
Athens County Sheriff’s deputies were requested to respond to an active domestic incident outside a home in Nelsonville until Nelsonville Police Department could arrive.
The deputies responded to the scene and helped until the NPD arrived. The involved parties were separated.
Wednesday, December 18
Passing time
Deputies found a vehicle running while they were on patrol near Dollar General in The Plains. The units found the owner of the vehicle sleeping while waiting for a local business to open up.
No criminal activity was observed at the scene and the units resumed patrol.
I was just tired
While on patrol, Athens County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a man passed out behind the wheel. The man said he was sleeping. Then deputies observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, which caused a search of the vehicle.
Illegal narcotics were found, causing the man to be arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a probation holder. Upon the time of the Sheriff’s Office’s media release for Wednesday, further charges are pending based on lab results.
