The Mid-American Conference announced its end-of-season honors via X Thursday morning, with a total of 10 players and coaches being honored.
For the second time in three seasons, Ohio coach Tim Albin was named the MAC Coach of the Year following Ohio’s nine-win season, leading the team to the upcoming MAC Championship Game.
Ohio receiver Coleman Owen was recognized with an All-MAC First Team selection after leading all wide receivers with 1,032 receiving yards. In the final game of the season, Owen became the third player in Ohio history to pass 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
Owen was the only player in the conference to be recognized more than once on the All-MAC Teams, being selected to the first team for offense and the All-MAC Third Team as a kick returner.
Edge rusher Bradley Weaver was Ohio’s other selection to the All-MAC First Team following a dominant season where he tallied a conference-leading eight solo sacks.
Ohio dominated the All-MAC Second Team, with quarterback Parker Navarro, running back Anthony Tyus and offensive linemen Parker Titsworth and Carson Heidecker all being selected.
The Bobcats had an additional three players on the All-MAC Second and Third Team defenses. On the second team was redshirt freshman defensive back DJ Walker. On the third team were standout linebackers Shay Taylor and Blake Leake.
Ohio’s award winners still have two more games to add to their stats with the MAC Championship Game Saturday and a Bowl game later in the year.
