Ohio freshman forward Iro Fakinou has been called up to represent Greece’s U19 National Team. Fakinou, 18, is a native of Athens, Greece, and is in her first year with Ohio.
Fakinou will join the U19 National Team for its match on Oct. 3 against Portugal.
The U19 Greek National Team's match against Portugal will be the final match before the U19 Euro Qualifications begin on November 27th against Denmark.
Fakinou has been a longtime participant in Greece’s national soccer program. She was named the Greece U17 National Team captain during the 2022-2023 season, leading her team into the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship Qualification matches.
Fakinou has also spent multiple years with AO Virilission, Olympiada Ymittou, and Asteras Tripolis, all clubs across Greece. She also won a silver medal at Greece's 2019 Futsal Championships.
