Celebrities participate in the alcohol industry

Celebrities have ventured into different platforms than their initial roles over the years. Many celebrities now have roles in multiple entrepreneurial projects from making podcasts, clothing apparel, beauty lines and alcohol brands.

The alcohol industry has specifically seen a huge jump in celebrity liquor brands hitting the market. Tom Holland and Beyoncé were the most recent celebrities to join the list, but many paved the way before them.

Actor George Clooney is a co-founder of the popular tequila brand Casamigos. Clooney, Michael Meldman and Rande Gerber founded the brand in 2013 before Casamigos exploded on the market and became a well-known tequila brand. In 2017, Clooney and partners sold the brand for $1 billion. The New York Times reported the deal made “Clooney one of the most successful celebrity investors around.”

After Clooney’s success, many other celebrities hopped on the train, hoping to also make high profits. Kendall Jenner, a model superstar and member of the Kardashian family, also launched a tequila brand called 818 Tequila. In 2021, the tequila was launched to the public and since then the brand has completely taken off. Forbes reported that in 2022, Jenner’s brand made over $25 million in revenue and has only risen since.

The alcohol industry produces high profits for celebrities. If done correctly, stars can see a huge influx of revenue from their created alcohol brands. Producing a brand also grows the celebrities' enterprise, making them a part of multiple different industries increases relevance and their net worth. It is a worthwhile investment and one many stars have taken part in, such as Ryan Reynolds, Snoop Dogg, Nick Jonas and Post Malone.

“Spider-Man” star Holland has now joined the list but with a different approach. Holland joined “Good Morning America” Wednesday to talk about his newest endeavors, a non-alcoholic line of beverages. Holland shared his sobriety journey and goal of making a non-alcoholic beer line everyone could enjoy. The company is called BERO, launched Oct. 16 and is available online

“This is my first step into the commercial world,” Holland told GMA “I have been developing it for well over a year now and it's been a passion of mine, from tasting samples to designing the can to building the brand.”

Beyoncé is another celebrity who has recently embarked on the liquor industry. The star announced her alcohol brand on Instagram in August with a post captioned, “DAVIS IN MY BONES,” as well as a link to her brand’s website. The beloved singer founded the American whiskey brand SirDavis, and it is available online and in stores.

With celebrities' prevalence in pop culture, it seems they are slowly making their mark on the alcohol industry as well. Holland and Beyoncé joined the list of celebrities to own and create alcohol brands, and certainly will not be the last. Alcohol companies produce large profits for celebrity creators and are a great way to expand personal brands.
