Nationwide Children’s Hospital to open Close-to-Home care facility in Athens

  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced it will open a new medical center inside O’Bleness Hospital in November, bringing nationally-ranked healthcare to Athens. By combining the strengths and resources of the two organizations, the facility will provide care for patients up to 21 years old and offer services to cardiology, gastroenterology, genetics and other specialty services. Jillian Kay rises to Athens music scene

  • Enrolled in Ohio University’s School of Music, Jillian Kay, a sophomore studying music production and recording, is one of Athens' rising artists who shares a strong passion for songwriting. Heavily influenced by her family's love of poetry and music, Kay started writing music. She decided to pursue it as a major at OU because music makes her feel understood and after gaining connections from attending an event hosted by the Women in Music Industry. Kay’s career is off to a good start with the release of her newest single “Short Lived Summer High” and performances at popular Court Street vendors such as The Union and Donkey Coffee. Students, local businesses anticipate presidential debate

  • Students have several options as to where and how they watch the next presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris Tuesday. Students can watch the debate at a watch party at the Baker Theater Lounge held by the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership in collaboration with The New Political, local restaurants like Jackie O’s or on streaming channels like ABC News Live, Disney Plus and Hulu. Watching the debate allows voters to see the candidates discuss certain policies, plans and agendas each candidate wants to pursue and what they stand for. Click here to read more.

Fans react to “Dancing with the Stars” Season 33 cast

  • The popular ABC reality show “Dancing with the Stars” is back for its 33rd season, premiering Sept. 17. Recently, the show announced this season’s competitors which will include former stars from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” a convicted con artist, former Olympians, professional dancers, a former NFL player and a variety of actors. The reception about the cast has been mixed with some fans being “frustrated” and having mixed feelings about the cast, especially about the convicted con artist,  while being excited to see how the dancers perform.
