Cows loose, camping disputes

Who let the dogs out?

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Warner Road in Guysville for an animal complaint, according to the sheriff’s office. 

A deputy later found a beagle with no collar or tags, according to the sheriff’s office. The beagle was taken to the Athens County Dog Shelter.

Back off dog

Deputies responded to Elm Street in Chauncey to a dog attack, according to the sheriff’s office. 

A report was taken and forwarded to the Athens County Dog Shelter.

Working together

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Athens deputies teamed with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a joint-county criminal patrol.

Deputies attempted to make contact with Danny Morgan, who had arrest warrants in both counties, according to the Athens Sheriff’s Office. 

Morgan fled the scene but was found hiding in a rotting tree. He was transported to the Middleport Jail for active warrants in Meigs County.

Why did the cow cross the road?

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ten Spot Road in Nelsonville for a cow on the roadway. 

Deputies patrolled the area but were unable to locate the cow, according to the sheriff’s office. No further action was needed.

Nature… It’s on me!

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to The Plains, Ohio, in reference to two people living in a tent, according to the sheriff’s office. 

At that time of the call, no contact was made with the property owner, according to the sheriff’s office. 

The people were advised to leave the area or criminal trespass complaints would be issued.

#camping 

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Snowden on a third-party report of an active domestic dispute at a campsite, according to the sheriff’s office. 

On the scene, deputies found the individuals at the site were not in any dispute nor was there any evidence of dispute. 

Do you smell that? 

Deputies responded to a juvenile problem in Glouster, according to the sheriff’s office. 

The girl was in possession of marijuana and was transported to the juvenile detention center. She was charged with possession.

Hotter than hot

Deputies responded to State Route 550 in Athens for a structure fire, according to the sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, a report was taken and an investigation is ongoing.

Get off the road

The Ohio State Highway Patrol requested the Athens County Sheriff’s office to check on a person walking along U.S. 50, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies made contact with a woman walking to a residence nearby, according to the sheriff’s office. She declined assistance but got off the highway.

Are those fireworks?

Deputies responded to Mill School Road in Guysville for a complaint of a mishandled firearm, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies spoke with all involved parties, and the case is under review, according to the sheriff’s office.

What was that sound? 

Deputies were dispatched to a place near Main Street in Chauncey for the sound of gunshots, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies patrolled the area, but didn’t hear or observe anything concerning and returned to patrol, according to the sheriff’s office.

Those crazy kids

Deputies patrolled East Fourth Street in The Plains for a complaint of firecrackers being set off, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies did not locate anyone setting off firecrackers and patrol was resumed.

Snitches get … 

Deputies responded to Perry Ridge Road in Nelsonville after receiving a tip that a wanted man was there, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies arrested the man on felony warrants and transported him to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Fight club

Deputies were dispatched to Washington Road, Albany for an active dispute, according to the sheriff’s office. 

When deputies arrived and spoke with all parties, they found one individual struck another, according to the sheriff’s office. Charges were completed and parties were separated.
