Ohio traveled to compete in the Drake Relays and the Mountaineer Twilight this past weekend. It participated in several events across the two meets. Two Bobcats set new records over the weekend.
Theresa Hagey and Carina Weaver made history in the 10,000-meter and 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Drake Relays. Hagey made a strong finish in the 10,000 with 34 minutes, 53.10 seconds, earning her first place and the fifth fastest time in Ohio history. Weaver finished with an impressive time of 10 minutes, 48.01 seconds, making her the fourth-fastest in the 3,000 steeplechase in Ohio history.
Stephanie Pierce ran the 1,600-meter and set her new personal best time of 4 minutes, 28.10 seconds. Alyssa Christian also ran in this event and finished at 4 minutes, 36.92 seconds.
At the Mountaineer Twilight, Jordan Baith, Autumn Mohan and Millie Ryan competed in the shot put, discus and weight throw events. Baith recorded a season-best record in the shot put with 11.73 meters. Mohan finished first in the same event with a throw of 12.86 meters and third in the discus with a 39.89-meter throw. Ryan also had a third-place finish with 12.38 meters in the shot put. Ryan recorded a season-best of 38.06 meters in the hammer, taking sixth place.
In the long jump, Taniah Stephens placed first in her heat and fifth overall with a mark of 5.31 meters. Teammate Emily Mckenzie finished right behind her in sixth place with a 5.31-meter jump.
Josie Knierman, a freshman sprinter, placed first in the 200-meter and second in the 100-meter. She finished the 200 at 25.50 seconds and the 100 at 12.50 seconds.
Ohio will conclude its regular season next weekend at the West Virginia Last Chance Invitational.
